I made a rookie mistake and only bought the first book in the series figuring that even though the bookstore didn’t have the second part of the series, it would be a while before I would need the second book.
Besides, I could pick it up cheaply on Amazon right?
Nope! After shipping, the cheapest copy of the second book would cost me $12, I may as well buy it new in store for that cost.
This weekend I resigned myself to another used book hunt through the lower mainland.
As you can see, I found the rest of the series at a lovely place called Renaissance Books in New Westminster. It’s a lovely shop with friendly, helpful staff, who really cater to their customers!
So tomorrow I’m going to beginning Camp NaNoWriMo basically, it’s a summer edition of NaNoWriMo but they also allow for revisions and editing, which is what I’m going to be buckling down and doing for the month of July.
But I’m not going to be spending my entire weekend revising. I want to do some relaxing and reading. I managed to pick up these two books at a second hand store and I’m looking forward to jumping into them.
I’ve heard good things about both authors and I can’t wait to start reading!
Also, once I’m done reading Doomsman I feel that I need to read this novel as a contrast/comparison piece as it has similar themes. Intergalactic thieves and assassins!
This book just came in the mail! For those not familiar with this book it’s essentially the human side of archæology. The stories behind the finds. The Indiana Joneses before he was a thing. I highly recommend it! The best thing is that you can pick it up on Amazon for under a dollar (plus shipping and handling)!
Yes, I realise that it is almost the last day of May. But this is where I am at. There have been computer problems and comic conventions but now I am getting back to editing. I will try to update more regularly, at the very least there will be a June update and it will be waaaaay more interesting than this!
In January I was trying to get back into my work schedule after taking almost a month off in December. I was over-rested. I’ve got my production schedule set up for the year but I need to include this blog as part of all that.
I would love to say that I am almost ready to publish Who Would Destroy the Gods, but I’m hip deep in edits and I am going to do some drastic rewrites. Due to the fact that I don’t have a large audience at the moment (which makes sense as my dad only has the one book published at the moment). I’m going to have to rely on an editor instead of beta readers like I’d hoped.
I will be keeping you all up to date on everything, in addition to that I’m going to tweak this website so stay tuned for some neat surprises coming up this year.
My mom just found my Dad’s Cree Flashcards! (The package arrived last week)
Which means that I can begin warbling Cree while I try to learn the language! Very slowly because I can’t dedicate myself as much as my dad did.
With his flashcards, I feel like he is teaching me himself.
For those of you who aren’t subscribed to the newsletter (which is just plain crazy!) you are missing out on being able to get access to the beta release of the first few chapters of Who Would Destroy the Gods!
Starting today there will be a weekly newsletter which includes a link to a special beta-edition of Who Would Destroy the Gods. In addition to this, the next day there will also be a release to Wattpad (I’ll post the links here as I get them). If you want to wait until the final copy is ready, that’s okay too. Keep watching this site to be notified or subscribe to my regular newsletter.
(This is the beta cover and most certainly not the final one.)
Tonight I had the chance to really get into the reviewing and editing process for Who Would Destroy the Gods?
I’m very curious about how this story plays out given that the main character seems to be Wisakedjak (more commonly known as Whiskey Jack or Grey Jay) but this is a book with many pantheons in it so it will be interesting to see how the story goes. The story so far is that Whiskey Jack has turned his back on becoming a god and is, instead, helping mortals to stay safe during the wars of the gods. While the gods themselves fight amongst themselves for supremacy of the universe.
Once I get further along, I’ll start posting bits and pieces. For now, you can have my sketch of Grey Jay.
Argh! Sorry everyone! It’s been too long since I’ve written in here! I’ve been super busy getting ready for Calgary Comics and Entertainment Expo (I like to call it C2E3: the Canuck edition). If anyone wants to catch up with me, I’ll be at K10 in the artist’s alley.
I’ve also been doing some writing. When I get back from Calgary I’ll start giving out some treats for those of you who are subscribed to my newsletter!
I’ll try to do a couple more updates before Calgary. Talk to you all soon!
For those of you who have bought Railroad Rising for your Kobo, please, drop a review for the book:
It’s the long weekend. I’ve completed quite a few projects now so now I’m going to continue something that I should have done long ago, and that’s to finish cataloguing my library (focussing on my fiction collection).
With me, it’s going to be more exciting than a simple cataloguing session. It’s going to be an adventure!
