Yes, I realise that it is almost the last day of May. But this is where I am at. There have been computer problems and comic conventions but now I am getting back to editing. I will try to update more regularly, at the very least there will be a June update and it will be waaaaay more interesting than this!
In January I was trying to get back into my work schedule after taking almost a month off in December. I was over-rested. I’ve got my production schedule set up for the year but I need to include this blog as part of all that.
I would love to say that I am almost ready to publish Who Would Destroy the Gods, but I’m hip deep in edits and I am going to do some drastic rewrites. Due to the fact that I don’t have a large audience at the moment (which makes sense as my dad only has the one book published at the moment). I’m going to have to rely on an editor instead of beta readers like I’d hoped.
I will be keeping you all up to date on everything, in addition to that I’m going to tweak this website so stay tuned for some neat surprises coming up this year.
My mom just found my Dad’s Cree Flashcards! (The package arrived last week)
Which means that I can begin warbling Cree while I try to learn the language! Very slowly because I can’t dedicate myself as much as my dad did.
With his flashcards, I feel like he is teaching me himself.
For those of you who aren’t subscribed to the newsletter (which is just plain crazy!) you are missing out on being able to get access to the beta release of the first few chapters of Who Would Destroy the Gods!
Starting today there will be a weekly newsletter which includes a link to a special beta-edition of Who Would Destroy the Gods. In addition to this, the next day there will also be a release to Wattpad (I’ll post the links here as I get them). If you want to wait until the final copy is ready, that’s okay too. Keep watching this site to be notified or subscribe to my regular newsletter.
(This is the beta cover and most certainly not the final one.)
Tonight I had the chance to really get into the reviewing and editing process for Who Would Destroy the Gods?
I’m very curious about how this story plays out given that the main character seems to be Wisakedjak (more commonly known as Whiskey Jack or Grey Jay) but this is a book with many pantheons in it so it will be interesting to see how the story goes. The story so far is that Whiskey Jack has turned his back on becoming a god and is, instead, helping mortals to stay safe during the wars of the gods. While the gods themselves fight amongst themselves for supremacy of the universe.
Once I get further along, I’ll start posting bits and pieces. For now, you can have my sketch of Grey Jay.
Argh! Sorry everyone! It’s been too long since I’ve written in here! I’ve been super busy getting ready for Calgary Comics and Entertainment Expo (I like to call it C2E3: the Canuck edition). If anyone wants to catch up with me, I’ll be at K10 in the artist’s alley.
I’ve also been doing some writing. When I get back from Calgary I’ll start giving out some treats for those of you who are subscribed to my newsletter!
I’ll try to do a couple more updates before Calgary. Talk to you all soon!
For those of you who have bought Railroad Rising for your Kobo, please, drop a review for the book:
I am trying to balance projects right now. I have some unrelated things that I have to get done. In addition to that I will be doing more research for the novel, Ryn’s turn. I sometimes feel like all I’m doing is research, but I want to give a sense of realism to the book. So the next thing that I am researching is dirigibles, airships, and other flying machines, along with military strategy (I’ve also ordered more Lego to do this)
I’ll be splitting duties between personal projects, Ryn’s Turn, and Who Would Destroy the Gods?
In May I’ll be focussing on getting a vague first draft completed of Ryn’s Turn. I’ll be working on other projects as well, but this will be my main focus. There will also be pictures as I depict contraptions and armies.
Next month I’ll be heading out to Calgary for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, I’ll be at table K10 and peddling many wares including Railroad Rising! So if you want to, stop by and say hello!
Railroad Rising: The Black Powder Rebellion is now available on all platforms for eBook! Join me from the 21st to the 25th as we celebrate this along with other authours from Edge Publications!
Hey everyone! If you’ve been holding off on purchasing Railroad Rising: The Black Powder Rebellion because you didn’t have the kindle reader, Both myself and Edge Publishing are proud to present Railroad Rising, now available for Nook!
(There is a button for Kobo, but it is not operational yet, keep watching this site as I will be announcing the Kobo release as soon as it’s available)
This year the book that I will be editing is called “Who Would Destroy the Gods”
I have begun printing out the chapters and hope to have everything printed out by the end of the month.
I’m doing things a little bit differently. I already have a fully written story, now I need to make sure that its foundations are solid which means doing an outline and character sketches. I’ll be looking at the different aspects of the story and making sure that they gel the way they are supposed to.
As I work on the story I’ll first be updating everyone on the newsletter and then giving summary updates on the website. So stay tuned!
This weekend I’ll be going over my Dad’s manuscripts and picking the one that I’ll be developing for publication this year!
For everyone who is signed up for the newsletter, I will make the announcement on Monday!
