Trying to Find My Way

Most people would take that title to mean that I am a lost soul. Perhaps I am.

But more immediately, I am trying to get an idea of the world that The Search for the Unicorns is set in. I wanted to be able to describe a bit more of the world in the book to help the readers.

The first thing I have to do is to see if he created a map of this world or if I need to create my own. I know that he kept everything in the story fairly vague which is nice because it allows the reader to imagine themselves in the story more. However, I want to add a little description. Just a little. I also want to know where the characters are going. Are they in a forest? Are they in the mountains? Where are they?!

A quick search tells me that he didn’t create a map for this world. What does that mean for me? It means that I am going to take tonight to create a vague map of the world. I am not a cartographer and my sense of direct is terrible. Here goes nothing

Getting Closer!

So I’m one and a half chapters away from finishing my second round of editing markups!

What does this mean for you, the reader?

It means that by the end of this week, possibly even sooner, I will begin the final revision process. Once I finish revising each chapter I will be releasing to this very website in hopes of getting some (ideally all) of you to do some beta reading for me!

I’ll be talking more about this as I get ready to finally release the chapters and how the beta reading process will go. So stay tuned!

Camp NaNoWriMo and Readings

So tomorrow I’m going to beginning Camp NaNoWriMo basically, it’s a summer edition of NaNoWriMo but they also allow for revisions and editing, which is what I’m going to be buckling down and doing for the month of July.

But I’m not going to be spending my entire weekend revising. I want to do some relaxing and reading. I managed to pick up these two books at a second hand store and I’m looking forward to jumping into them.

I’ve heard good things about both authors and I can’t wait to start reading!

Also, once I’m done reading Doomsman I feel that I need to read this novel as a contrast/comparison piece as it has similar themes. Intergalactic thieves and assassins!

My Late April Update

Drumheller 2016
Random picture taken by blogger and added to post to make the post seem more interesting than it actually is.

Yes, I realise that it is almost the last day of May. But this is where I am at. There have been computer problems and comic conventions but now I am getting back to editing. I will try to update more regularly, at the very least there will be a June update and it will be waaaaay more interesting than this!

Quick Check in…

Gah! I made the rookie mistake of changing the formatting words from “_example_” to bolds and italics! I realised this over halfway through the manuscript. I’m hoping that I can use some sort of undo on them.

As you can tell, I’m continuing to edit the novel, “Who Would Destroy the Gods”. It’s going a lot slower than I would like but this is the first book and I have a lot to learn about formatting and editing a literary book, they are so much more different than comics!

Late and Great Update

In January I was trying to get back into my work schedule after taking almost a month off in December. I was over-rested. I’ve got my production schedule set up for the year but I need to include this blog as part of all that.

I would love to say that I am almost ready to publish Who Would Destroy the Gods, but I’m hip deep in edits and I am going to do some drastic rewrites. Due to the fact that I don’t have a large audience at the moment (which makes sense as my dad only has the one book published at the moment). I’m going to have to rely on an editor instead of beta readers like I’d hoped.

I will be keeping you all up to date on everything, in addition to that I’m going to tweak this website so stay tuned for some neat surprises coming up this year.

Beta Testing and Wattpad!

For those of you who aren’t subscribed to the newsletter (which is just plain crazy!) you are missing out on being able to get access to the beta release of the first few chapters of Who Would Destroy the Gods!

Starting today there will be a weekly newsletter which includes a link to a special beta-edition of Who Would Destroy the Gods. In addition to this, the next day there will also be a release to Wattpad (I’ll post the links here as I get them). If you want to wait until the final copy is ready, that’s okay too. Keep watching this site to be notified or subscribe to my regular newsletter.

Work in Progress

I am feeling like this as I work on editing “Who Would Destroy the Gods?”

It’s always challenging when you are just starting out on a career path. In this case it’s a bit weird for me because I technically have material to work with that I could tease you with, but on the other hand, I haven’t even really read all of the material. Heck, I haven’t even scratched the surface yet.

Maybe that’s my problem right now. I need to figure out which way to jump first. I also need to know what I should tell the Internet about my Dad, after all, that’s what this website is for. But do I want to talk about what my father was interested in? I could do that. I certainly can’t talk about his works in progress, although, I can talk about what I’m editing and for those of you who have signed up to the newsletter, I’ll be sending out special sneak peaks of “Who Would Destroy the Gods?”

One of the other things that I will be working on over the next month will be button designs for Railroad Rising, which subscribers will also get to see first and give me their opinion.

Whew! Time for me to get back to editing! I’ll talk to you all again very soon!
