Apparently it was only a matter of time before the index cards came out. I’m not sure but they seem comfortable. I put scenes, characters and things that points about on. Things that I can layout in front of myself and make connections with. It’s a neat exercise if nothing else.
Yes, I realise that it is almost the last day of May. But this is where I am at. There have been computer problems and comic conventions but now I am getting back to editing. I will try to update more regularly, at the very least there will be a June update and it will be waaaaay more interesting than this!
In January I was trying to get back into my work schedule after taking almost a month off in December. I was over-rested. I’ve got my production schedule set up for the year but I need to include this blog as part of all that.
I would love to say that I am almost ready to publish Who Would Destroy the Gods, but I’m hip deep in edits and I am going to do some drastic rewrites. Due to the fact that I don’t have a large audience at the moment (which makes sense as my dad only has the one book published at the moment). I’m going to have to rely on an editor instead of beta readers like I’d hoped.
I will be keeping you all up to date on everything, in addition to that I’m going to tweak this website so stay tuned for some neat surprises coming up this year.
For those of you who aren’t subscribed to the newsletter (which is just plain crazy!) you are missing out on being able to get access to the beta release of the first few chapters of Who Would Destroy the Gods!
Starting today there will be a weekly newsletter which includes a link to a special beta-edition of Who Would Destroy the Gods. In addition to this, the next day there will also be a release to Wattpad (I’ll post the links here as I get them). If you want to wait until the final copy is ready, that’s okay too. Keep watching this site to be notified or subscribe to my regular newsletter.
(This is the beta cover and most certainly not the final one.)
Soooo I am still working on balance at the moment. Which means things aren’t as frequent as I would like. Blog posting being one of these things. Let me tell you about what I’ve been up to while I haven’t been posting here.
I’ve finished up the first read through of Who Would Destroy the Gods? I’ve marked it up for the first round of edits which I will be working on in Late August early September.
I’m about half way my first read through and edit mark up of a story I’m working on in order to practise my own writing. (This will be available later through an undisclosed pen name) I bring it up because people will need to know that I am working on other projects as well as editing my father’s novels. I have another project that I was able to get ahead on in order to make more room for writing and will be starting another novel this month. (Again, this novel will also be a practise novel and will be released through a pen name)
Also, last week I travelled half way across the country and back again in the space of a long weekend by truck.
For those of you who have signed up to my newsletter (bless you!), I will have a very special surprise for you next month!
(Because I totally thought that I posted this, I’ll add on to the post)
P.S. Just a quick add-on! I’ll be in Calgary this weekend for a writer’s conference and to promote Railroad Rising!
I’m very curious about how this story plays out given that the main character seems to be Wisakedjak (more commonly known as Whiskey Jack or Grey Jay) but this is a book with many pantheons in it so it will be interesting to see how the story goes. The story so far is that Whiskey Jack has turned his back on becoming a god and is, instead, helping mortals to stay safe during the wars of the gods. While the gods themselves fight amongst themselves for supremacy of the universe.
Once I get further along, I’ll start posting bits and pieces. For now, you can have my sketch of Grey Jay.
I am trying to balance projects right now. I have some unrelated things that I have to get done. In addition to that I will be doing more research for the novel, Ryn’s turn. I sometimes feel like all I’m doing is research, but I want to give a sense of realism to the book. So the next thing that I am researching is dirigibles, airships, and other flying machines, along with military strategy (I’ve also ordered more Lego to do this)
I’ll be splitting duties between personal projects, Ryn’s Turn, and Who Would Destroy the Gods?
In May I’ll be focussing on getting a vague first draft completed of Ryn’s Turn. I’ll be working on other projects as well, but this will be my main focus. There will also be pictures as I depict contraptions and armies.
Next month I’ll be heading out to Calgary for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, I’ll be at table K10 and peddling many wares including Railroad Rising! So if you want to, stop by and say hello!
Railroad Rising: The Black Powder Rebellion is now available on all platforms for eBook! Join me from the 21st to the 25th as we celebrate this along with other authours from Edge Publications!
