My Word of the Day

Very intricate Jali carved out of single stone at Socalled Sidi Sayyed Mosque, Ahmedabad. This was found online via a Google image search. I tried to attribute it to the original author but was unable to find a non-Pintrest picture.

Friezework – a sculptured, horizontal band which is found in some architecture.

I will not go into a grand history of friezework (even though I really, really want to research it now). But it’s an interesting word for a very decorative feature in architecture. But I will add this, considering that many people took on surnames based on what they did for a living, people with the last name of Friezen, may have created these works of art. Just saying!
